Key Tasks and Responsibilities   

As part of the a dynamic department, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Support the corrective maintenance and evolution of the Copernicus operational processors, their validation and installation in the EUMETSAT ground segment;
  • Specification and prototyping of new processing concepts for altimeter processing chains:
  • Specification and prototyping of evolutions of the altimeter processing chains;
  • Contributing to operational processor evolution and maintenance activities;
  • Validation of altimetry prototype and operational products;
  • Quality assessment and monitoring of altimetry products;
  • Supporting the commissioning and cal/val of altimetry missions.
  • Applications of satellite data in meteorology, oceanography, and atmosphere composition;
  • Scientific document writing.

Qualifications

You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience:

  • University degree in physical remote sensing, meteorology, oceanography, physics, IT/Computational Science, or a relevant discipline;
  • Scientific knowledge of altimetry observations
  • Experience in calibration and validation of altimetry data
  • Experience in the definition and development of prototypes or operational processors
  • Proven experience with scientific programming languages, particularly Python and/or MATLAB. Knowledge of C/C++ is a valuable asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a Linux environment, with skills in managing and processing large test datasets.
  • Strengths in analysis, synthesis, and presentation, including demonstrated experience in writing scientific and technical documents
  • Good interpersonal skills and a proven ability to apply these to the interactions within a team and between teams
  • Fluency in English is mandatory; knowledge of another European language is an advantage.
